Well first off, this Is a Road Trip (wiki: U.S. Route 66 is a living icon of early modern road tripping.) - and it seems like a road trip itinerary is something of an oxymoron... So let me paint this in broad strokes, knowing that I reserve the right to turn left and head to Mexico or turn right and end up in Canada.
Outgoing:
Day 1 - Sunday 5/8/11 - Horton, MI to Bloomington, IL
Day 2 - Historic Route 66 to Joplin, MO
Day 3 - Historic Route 66 to Amarillo, TX
Day 4 - Historic Route 66 to Santa Fe, NM
On-Site:
Driving & Hiking in 3 Mountain Ranges in the Southern Rocky Mountains
* Jemez Mountains around Santa Fe and Los Alamos,
* Sangre de Christo Mountains around Taos, and the
* San Juan Mountains in Southern Colorado.
Returning:
Day 1 - ?Colorado Springs, CO to Omaha, NB
Day 2 - Visit Elizabeth & Calvin in Omaha
Day 3 - Omaha, NB to Horton, MI (Sunday 5/22/11)
